Join Anna and Lucy as they hold a competition across the counties to find out! From Lei celebrating St Patrick's Day in Galway to Alfonzo baking delicious bread in Tipperary, the competition is tough! Who will be the winner?
New children’s book highlights the beauty of mulcultural Ireland
Longford photographer Shelley Corcoran has spent many years photographing students across schools in her small county and when she started noticing the growing diversity within classrooms, she had an idea for this fantastic new book!
“I noticed the wonderful cultural diversity that
exists within each school and thought how lucky
it was for all these little 4 to 5-year-olds to be
able to experience growing up with Irish heritage and at the same time embracing all these different cultures in their classroom.”
The Most Irish Person joins two young girls Anna and Lucy as they travel across the length and breadth of Ireland and meet with
children of different cultures and heritage to answer the question: ‘who is the most Irish person in Ireland?’
For instance, they encounter Maya in Leitrim who was born in India but now excels in sports like hurling and rounders! And they meet Lei in Galway who has Chinese parents and loves to paint herself in green from head to toe to celebrate St Patrick’s Day!
With bright and engaging illustrations that enhance the beauty of the visible differences among the children, from hairstyles to skin tones to even clothing, Polish-Irish artist Angelika Sowul brings the author’s lyrical words to life.
